Born: 21 Jul 1765 in Ashford, CT, eldest son of Elijah Hoar and Anna Paddock.
Died: 3 Feb 1827.[1]
Marriage: 7 Sep 1786 at Pomfret, VT, to Theodosia Durkee who was b. 19 Feb 1764 at Woodstock, VT and d. 2 May 1827 at Sheldon, VT (?). She was the daughter of Captain Bartolomew Durkee and Ruth Keyes of Pomfret.
Children:
(1) Samuel, b. 8 May 1789, d. 11 Nov 1866. aged 77 years, 6 months, 3 days, and buried in the Trenton Center Cemetery, Trenton, WI.[2] He married:
(1) Louisa Mason 2 Oct 1814 or 1816 in CT, There is a Louisa Mason in the Oakwood Cemetery, Beaver Dam, 1820-1895.[3] Most likely this is a daughter.
(2) Betsey Hutchinson 14 or 17 Dec 1820 in Pomfret.. She was b. 25 Aug 1801, daughter of William Samuel Hutchinson and Martha Chedel, daughter of John Chedel, all of Pomfret.[4] Samuel Horr is listed in the 1850 and 1860 U.S. Census for WI, Trenton township, Dodge County and the 1855 WI state census. Betsey is buried in in Juneau Cemetery, section C row 5, 1798-1871[5]
(2) Ralph Chauncey, b. 10 Dec 1790, d.----1870 at Rockford, IA. He married (1) Anna Robinson of Swanton, VT, (2) Mary B. Angus at Plattsburgh, NY, and (3) Fannie Newton at Philadelphia, PA. In 1820 he was captain of Light Infantry of Clinton County, NY. His child by his first wife was:
Caroline, b. 1816, married Robert Matthews and they had a son:
Ralph at Rockford, IA, who married Jennie Lumley.
The children by his second wife were:
Mary Angus, b. 1822, d. 1847.
Angus, b. 1826, d. before 1907. Married at Elkader, IA, and had a daughter: Carrie, who married Cady Stanton, Blue Earth, MN.
Eastman, b. 1829
Lyman, b. 1832. Settled in Marble Rock, IA.
Margaret Theodosia, b. 1838, d. 1890 at Kitmundy, IL. Married Sidney S. Smith and had a daughter:
Jennie F, b. 30 Jan 1863, who married 10 Nov 1885 Frank Hurlburt Horr. Resided at Ithaca, MI.
(3) Alanson, b. 8 Jan 1794, d. 18 Apr 1838 at Pomfret. He married Fannie Pratt 24 Dec 1815, who was b.1 May 1796, daughter of Martin Pratt and Zoa Sessions (daughter of Simeon Sessions), all of Pomfret.[6] Alanson was in Pomfret 1820 and 1830.[7] He lived only a short distance southwest of his father in the southern part of town. Bart Durkee was also closeby to the north.[8]

(5) Laura, b. 26 Oct 1797, d. 18 Oct 1856. She married 23 Oct 1824 John Stuart (or Stewart) Lynde of Plymouth, VT. He was b. 5 Aug 1788 at Guildford, VT, and d. 21 Sep 1866 at Norridgewick, ME. Their children were:
Francis Theodosia, b. 20 Aug 1825 at Plymouth, VT
John Horr, b. 22 Dec 1827 at Pomfret
George Augustus, b. 24 Apr 1830 at Norridgewick, ME. He married Drusilla L. Saunders.
(6) Lucina, b. 13 Jul 1799 at Pomfret, d. 6 May 1849, at Trenton, WI. She married Samuel H. Robinson, 1837, at Avon, OH, d.. at Trenton, WI, 6 May 1849.A Lucinda Horr married Samuel Robinson 10 May 1838 in Lorain Co.[9] A Lucinda Robinson is buried in Beaver Dam Cemetery, 14-A, d. 6 May 1869, age 51 years, wife of S. H. Robinson (buried on Benjamin Bayley lot).[10]

(7) Mary, b. 28 Apr 1801 at Pomfret, d. 5 May 1893 at Avon, OH. She was buried at Avon Township cemetery.[11] On 22 Oct 1835 at Avon she married Joseph Brown Jameson who was b. 29 Nov 1787 at Dunbarton, NH and d. 8 Jun 1867.[12] "She [Mary] came with her brother, Capt. Roswell Horr, to Avon in 1834. She was a well educated, capable woman, of marvelous memory, and the early history of this branch of the family is largely on her authority."[13]
(8) Persis, b. 1 Apr 1803, d. 1 Mar 1804.
(9) John, b. 16 Jan 1805, d. 30 Dec 1811.
(10) Hannah, b. 29 Jan 1807, at Pomfret. 18 Oct 1826 she married Benjamin Bailey in Pomfret and removed to Beaver Dam, WI. Benjamin Bailey is listed in the 1850 and 1860 U.S. Census in Trenton township, 018 and 967, respectively. He is listed in the state index for 1855 with the same information. Benjamin and Hannah are buried in the Beaver Dam City Cemetery. Records show he was b. 1806 and d. 15 Jun 1878 and she was b. 1807 and d. 9 Apr 1885.[14]
Four others died in infancy.
Biography:
In 1772 John came with his father to Pomfret, VT, where he was a blacksmith. He served fourteen days in October 1780 as a private in Edmund Hodges' militia company at Fort Fortitude. He was known as "Deacon" in the Christian Church. He was in Pomfret in 1790 and 1800.[15]
Note: There was an Olive A. Lukens, age 79 and widowed, living with her nephew Charles W. Horr, Jr., at Wellington, OH, in 1920. Her father was b. in NH and her mother in VT. A definite relationship has not been established.[16]
